Commitment:
We anticipate you attending all rehearsals but understand that life happens. If you are unable to come to 2 or more rehearsals in a row please let us know by email so we don’t worry about you. If we don’t see you for 2 or more rehearsals we may follow up to make sure you are okay. If life changes and you are unable to continue with the chorus for the season please let us know as soon as possible. There are no refunds for leaving the chorus mid season.
Priority Spaces:
As we continue to grow in wonderful ways, we are also aware that we do have a limit to our capacity. If we should have more people register than we have room for a season, we prioritize spots for dedicated returning members and new members who are BIPOC, Two-Spirit and/or trans. If you register but there isn’t yet a spot for you we will let you know before the season begins, and put you on the waitlist should a spot open up. (They often do!)
Money, Money, Money
The fees for the chorus go towards paying for all of the chorus costs; venue rental, printing, transport, equipment, wages, tea and cookies etc. Both choruses are managed as one financial project. Pamela was successful in an artist in communities grant from Nova Scotia Arts Council last year that is helping pay for arrangement time and our guest artist this season. To help cover additional costs we have applied for other grants and may also be running some fundraising events this season. We run the chorus with sliding scale fees, trade options and scholarships because of our commitment to accessibility and in an effort to undermine the systems of colonial, patriarchal, white-supremacist capitalism, not because of surplus funds! Our budget is based on an average of $150 per member, per season with a total of 70-80 members per season. We know that finances can be complicated and nuanced and that things can change. Please reach out if you need or want to talk through the fees.
